Physiotherapy is one of the main keys to your child's independence. It can help build gross motor strength and skills and promote your child's physical abilities. Plus, it helps give them the confidence they need to function in everyday society.
For children with developmental delays, having an active daily life may come with its own obstacles. At Canoe, our experienced pediatric Physiotherapists help children break through their motor challenges resulting in a more active, physically independent life.
There are a multitude of reasons for a child requiring physiotherapy, such as: pregnancy or delivery concerns, prematurity, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, hypotonia, global developmental delay, muscular dystrophy, or torticollis.
Physiotherapy is a primary team player for children who are going through or recovering from cancer treatment to maintain or restore muscle strength and function. Similarly, children who have had surgery, extended bed rest, or experience fatigue as a result of an underlying medical condition can benefit from working with a Physiotherapist to maintain their physical abilities. Whatever the reason, Canoe can create a custom program especially for your child.
Our experienced Physiotherapists work with families, medical professionals and caregivers to build a therapeutic plan and set goals. It's all about improving strength and range of motion in order to boost learning and foster a child's physical independence. The more independence they experience, the more confidence they gain.
Our Physiotherapists are accountable to both their clients and the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. The College is the self-governing body that ensures ethical, competent, and safe practice of Physiotherapy in Ontario. Following the standards presented by the College, our Physiotherapists complete annual registration and participate in furthering education, competency assessments and clinical audits to ensure they continue to provide an excellent quality of therapy.
