Description: This social skills group is a fun and motivating way to help children develop further awareness of their own thinking and social behaviours and learn strategies to help them develop better their ability to converse with peers. It uses cognitive-behavioural strategies to help children monitor and regulate their own behaviours in the moment, read the hidden social rules in each context, and then regulate our physical presence, eyes, language, emotions, reactions, etc. through the development of flexible thinking.
Where: Canoe Therapy Burlington
Appropriate for: 7-9 yr olds with average or above average cognitive and language skills looking for self-regulation and social skills learning opportunities. Appropriate for a young people with a range of diagnoses, specifically high functioning Autism (ASD) or Asperger’s.
When: 1 hour weekly
