Dawna is a registered occupational therapist with a Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of New England. She has been providing clients from birth through 24 with pediatric occupational therapy services in private schools, public schools, and in-home community settings since 2008.
Dawna works with families to create and address goals related to a client’s fine motor difficulties, coordination difficulties, visual motor and visual perceptual delays, difficulty with self-care skills, sensory processing and self-regulation challenges, as well as decreased strength and range of motion. Dawna's approach to address these deficits is through meaningful activities – which is why OT often looks like play!
Dawna has extensive experience treating coordination impairments, fine motor challenges, and working with adolescents with significant challenging behaviours and dual diagnoses. She has experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum, utilizing basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in her sessions and parent trainings. She is trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Keyboarding Without Tears, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. She also utilizes the Zones of Regulation curriculum in her sessions.
Dawna enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter – hiking, biking, and camping. She loves visiting family in Vermont, and cheering on her beloved Boston sports teams.
