Melissa Healy is a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and certified Ontario teacher (OCT).
She earned a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Counselling from the University of Ottawa. Melissa is a certified Child Psychotherapist. Her formal education and experiences have prepared her to conduct assessment and treatment to children and families with a varied and complex set of challenges.
Melissa has worked in the mental health field with diverse populations and organizations serving children, youth, and adults in urban and suburban centres across Ontario and Alberta. Her early experiences include working with children with Autism conducting IBI/ABA Therapy, and teaching special education and mental health classrooms. Her clinical expertise is in facilitating individual, group, and family therapy with children, youth, and their families.

Melissa is a dynamic, creative, and empathetic therapist committed to using a variety of evidence-based practices when appropriate to best serve the client and their particular challenge.
As a member of the Canoe Therapy team, her work involves providing assessment, treatment, and parent consultation. A variety of play therapy models are used including directive methods (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and non-directive approaches (such as Child-Centered Play based services). Interventions are individually modified for each child and their family's unique needs. Melissa is supervised by Canoe Psychologist Dr. Anita Ramani.
